Welcome! V.O.I.C.E.S. (Volunteer Organization Involving Community Education and Service) is an active service group at the University of Texas at San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The group was created by three students who attended a COOL Conference in 1993 in hopes of having a student organization that focused on volunteer efforts.
We serve as a clearing house for volunteers on campus,
and help to provide opportunities for community service organizations
on campus, but we organize many alternative activities and events.
How to join VOICES
You have come to the right place to keep informed about all the activities associated with community service and VOICES. All UTSA students are welcome to join or apply for an officer position in VOICES.
Meetings are Wendesdays at 5:00 p.m. in the Mesquite Room (UC 2.01.24) during which the VOICES officers are present to publicize upcoming events, engage in fellowship, and reflect on recent project experiences. Committees will be formed to assist in the planning of larger events. Please consider joining us and becoming a leader in VOICES.
Active membership is achieved by fulfilling 25 hours per semester, which includes attendance at projects, general meetings, and committee meetings (fundraising, banner making, etc.) Further, after 50 cumulative hours of service at UTSA, members qualify for a commemorative pin which will be given at the banquet. Once 75 hours has been reached, a limited edition "VOICES" hoody will be bestowed upon thee, and at 125 hours, the coveted green, gold, and white cords will be provided to be worn on stage during your graduation at UTSA.
At the end of each semester, VOICES holds a banquet to honor the new and returning members, and to transition officers at the end of the spring semester.
Students interested in service are encouraged to contact a VOICES member and check out who our executive officers are this year!
* To participate in off-campus VOICES projects, authorization and release forms must be completed. Forms are available on the left side of this page for download, or they can be completed during the project.
